Stars

Wow, another week is here. It has been busy today and the day is only half gone. What a variety of people I meet daily. Some are happy, some are tired, some are rude, some are grateful and some are not. They say "Variety is the spice of Life". But I am reminded of this thought. "Pretend you are a star and poke a hole in someone's darkness." So when I hear the song "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" it has a new meaning.

Oh I am also having a O'Henry Day. I left my keys in my other coat pocket, so I had myself locked out of the house. Now I have to wait until Roland arrives back from Burlington. Needless to say I couldn't go home for lunch, and O'Henry was the closest thing to grab, and King size at that. Well, I'll have to do double duty at Curves this week.

Little Things Mean a Lot

Today I did a St. Patrick's Day program for the Young at Heart (50+). And they are just that. We had stew and scones for Lunch. There were some laughs and groans as I told some of my "jokes". When I asked them if any one had a special treasure, one gentleman put his arm around his wife, and said I do. They are both in their mid-seventies. It was so nice.
Today I again was challenged to never underestimate the power of little things. A gentleman came to our office for assistance, after assisting him, I asked him if he would like a chocolate bar. Of course he readily said "Yes". It was what he said after. He said "You know that is the nicest thing that has happened to me this month." I can only imagine what some of these people go through, that something so simple can mean so much to them. "Inasmuch..."

Away from Home

Wow 2 weekends in a row. Roland & I have gotten away from Home. We decided to visit friends in Toronto last week. It was great. We live so close but sometimes it seems so far. So we played Queens (Card game) then the next day our friends and ourselves when to a flea market. Of course our big expenses cost about $5.00. (I try to be frugal, HA!!!). Then this weekend we stayed overnight in Burlington, went to Dixieland Mall then onto Hamilton to visit friends there. Loretta cut my hair for me and also colored it. She always has a way of making me look good, when it comes to my hair. My Daughter-inLaw, Deb makes me look good when it comes to my pretty blue eyes. (She picks out neat glasses for me.) My husband and sons are the ones who gave me the gray hairs I have to cover once in a while. HA!!! HA!!! Love you guys. My Daughter-in-Laws, Charissa & Debbie and my 3 Wonderful, cute grandchildren keep me young. Isn't that right Ladies????

"TO BE"

Today I did a Women's Program, "BEE LIKE THE KING". How often do we use the word 'BE'. I need to 'be' somewhere. Am I 'be'ing fair? What will tomorrow 'be' like? I want to 'be' a friend. and so on. My Life consists of "Being". Being a Wife, a Mom, a Grandmother, a Daughter, a Sister, an Aunt, A Clergy, A Friend, and the list goes on. Those are big responsibilities, but each one holds a unique special place in my Life and "I Love It".

Small Splinters

"Our problems and troubles are really a gracious sharing with us by God letting us carry small, very small splinters of His Cross."
There are days when we just don't seem to see Sunshine, and the silver lining is far hidden from us. However, It is There. Just as HE IS RISEN. Working at Community & Family Services, I am often reminded that there are a lot of people who are in need, physically, emotionally and Spiritually. Life has it's challenges for them and often I am challenged in the fact that I want to do what is best for these people. Many graciously accept help and others think we own it to them. But In all that I trust that whatever I do I will be able to be God's Face to a needy people. If your are reading this What are you doing???
